It costs $210 a day, on average, to stay in a nursing home in the United States, according to a recent survey. Stamford, Connecticut, is the most expensive nursing home market, at $390 a day. A study by the Health Action Forum of Greater Boston showed:
45% of workers used their vacation time or sick days to provide care
33% reported coming in late or leaving early to perform such duties.
More than a third said they were less productive on the job.
12.5% actually left a job to provide some form of Long Term Care.
The Forum also found that caregivers suffer the following problems that directly affect their work:

Take early retirement
Have excessive phone calls
Have difficulty concentrating
Suffer anxiety or depression
Give up vacations & social life
